Hubbard EPA Grant

Seed and Cone Collection Kits

As a subaward recipient of the Hubbard SWCD's EPA Environmental Education Grant, the Wadena SWCD is now a host site for renting Seed and Cone Collection Kits. These kits were created by Hubbard SWCD for the grant's secondary goal of aiding in Minnesota's seed/cone shortage that state nurseries are currently experiencing. Hubbard EPA Grant

Our office currently has 2 collection kits available to be rented. Each kit contains the following contents: 

  • Hand pruner
  • Pole saw/pruner
  • Tarp (with 4 stakes)
  • 5-Gallon bucket with lid
  • 2 Gunnysacks
  • Nut gatherer*

*Only 1 nut gatherer is available between the 2 rentable kits. 

A $50 damage deposit is required at pick-up which will be returned once the rented kit is brought back in good working order. 

Tree Planter

Tree Planter

Our rentable tree planter is a towable, two-person planter that runs with battery operated hydraulics. The tow vehicle for this planter needs to be at least a half ton pick-up or equivalent with a drop-pin hitch. 

Horsepower Requirements: 50 HP minimum

Rental rate: $55 or $75 per day

Deposit: $55 or $75 which is due at the time of pick up

 

Equipment Rental

The Wadena SWCD tree planter can be rented to any Wadena County resident for $55 a day as well as those within a 20-mile radius of our office for $75 per day. Please view the map to see if your township and/or county falls within our equipment rental jurisdiction.

Once it's scheduled to be rented, the tree planter can be picked up at our office beginning at 8:30 am and must be returned by 8:30am the next business day unless otherwise arranged. All late equipment rentals are subject to a fine. 

Drill Rentals

Drill rental equipment is available through the East Otter Tail SWCD. All rental equipment can be picked up starting at 10:00am and must be returned by 8:00am the next business day unless otherwise arranged. All late equipment rentals are subject to a fine. 

Haybuster No-till Drill

Haybuster No-till Drill

The EOT SWCD has a 10-foot Haybuster 107 no-till drill available for rent. The drill is equipped with a grain box, native grass seed box, and legume box.

Haybuster's grain and grass drills are truly all purpose drills. They will seed a wide variety of seed; from warm and cool season grasses and legumes to small grains and soybeans. These drills work will in conventional, minimum till, and no-till operations.

Horsepower requirements: 50 HP Minimum - Dependent upon terrain and soil conditions

Rental Rate: $15.00/acre (out of East Otter Tail county)

$195.00 minimum charge

Deposit: $195 is due at time of pick up.

Dew Drop Drill

Dew Drop Drill

The Dew Drop Drill is a native grass drill equipped with twin seed boxes. It's designed to handle a variety of seeds including warm and cool season grasses, small and large grains, wildflowers, forbs, legumes, and many commercially available food plot mixtures.

Seeding width is 3 ft. Can cover one acre per hour at 3 mph. The drill requires a minimum 350 cc ATV.

Rental rate: $150.00/day (includes trailer for easy transport)

Deposit: $150 is due at time of pick up.
